Each Sunday during School Term (except when school Masses are held, as advised in the Parish Bulletin) children from Prep to Year 6 have the opportunity at the 9.30 am Mass to take part in their own Liturgy of the Word.
They leave the main body of the church just after the start of Mass and return for the Eucharistic Prayer. These special liturgies for the children are conducted by a group of volunteers from the parish.
Would you like to join the volunteer leaders group?
We welcome new volunteer leaders.
If you are interested please see the information below:
How frequently must I commit?
Approximately once every 5 weeks.
Is there formal training that must/can be undertaken?
New volunteers are invited to come along to a session and observe. Leader’s hints and children’s activity sheets are provided for each Sunday.
Are there any other requirements?
Yes – all volunteers are required by law to have a Working with Children Accreditation – This is not a reflection on our volunteers, it applies across the board to everyone who deals with children such as teachers, sports coaches, school nurses, tutors, parish council members and after care staff. Refer working with children and police check guidelines.
