ANZAC Day

Pope Francis

We give thanks for the life of Pope Francis, who led the Church with humility, compassion and advocacy for the poor, the marginalised, and social justice. His leadership transcended borders and faith. Fr Des Dwyer SJ
There will be a Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral at 1pm on Monday 28 April, and another Mass in the Parish at the Immaculate Conception Church at 7:30pm on Tuesday 29 April

ANZAC Day

There will be Mass in the main body of the Immaculate Conception Church  at noon on Friday 25 April. The Parish Office will be closed on ANZAC Day.

Hawthorn RSL Sub-Branch will be hosting an ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the St James Park Cenotaph in Hawthorn at 5:30am on Friday 25 April 2025. About the dawn service: If you would like to RSVP, or would like to get involved, please let us know by clicking the link below.
hawthornrsl.com/AnzacDay
Australians commemorate ANZAC Day on 25 April every year. This is the anniversary of the day when Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on Gallipoli in 1915 as part of the Allies' campaign in the First World War. ANZAC Day draws large crowds of people to the dawn services, and marches are held around the country. Today, ANZAC Day also honours those who have served through recent conflicts and on peacekeeping missions. The day reflects the diversity of modern military operations as young veterans join with veterans of earlier wars, connected by the experience of service. Now a tradition over 100 years old, ANZAC Day has become Australia’s most important secular occasion. â€‹

As we pray for peace to replace conflict across the world, may we remember with gratitude and respect those who served and gave their lives for the future of others. We will remember them. Lest we forget
